1. Don鈥檛 Wait! 鈥� The first weeks of your class are the best time to establish an effective study schedule. Utilize your time wisely by determining your study schedule in the first week of classes, so you can maximize your potential this semester.
2. Be Consistent! 鈥� Establishing a regular study schedule is important. Find a time in week where you have downtime consistently; this could be at work while on break, when your children are napping, or in the evenings after work.
3. Trade Time, Never Steal It! 鈥� As busy adults, we know it can often be difficult to study as planned. If you miss your planned study session simply adjust your schedule for that week, rather than missing your study session for that week. This will allow you to make-up the missed session, so you can stay on top of your coursework!
4. Be Flexible! 鈥� Life always throws us curveballs, especially as adults. Try to leave a few minutes open in your week for makeup study sessions or to review your material again. Weekend evenings are the perfect opportunity to makeup study time that may have been missed in the week, or to review your materials one extra time.

You are ready to tackle another day of school when suddenly, your technology isn鈥檛 working the way it should!

Technology issues happen to everyone, and they can be incredibly frustrating. At 糖心传媒 Online, one of our student resources is You can call the help desk or visit their office in-person. The IT experts are ready to get you (and your laptop) back on track.

In the meantime, here are some tips to fix common technology problems you may have.

1. Zoom- While video conferencing is convenient, it comes with a lot of navigation. A common mistake in Zoom is forgetting to turn your microphone on, leading to other participants not being able to hear you. In the bottom left hand of your screen, there is a square with a microphone icon. When you want to speak, make sure that square says 鈥淢ute鈥� (meaning you have the option of muting yourself again) and does not have a red x over the icon. If it does not look like that, your microphone is still off. Another problem is that your computer鈥檚 internal microphone might break eventually. If this happens, invest in a pair of headphones that have a built-in microphone so as to prevent you from having to buy a new computer.
2. Internet Connection- You might try to get on a website only for your screen to say no internet connection. This can happen for a number of reasons, but a common error is that you are not connected to Wi-Fi. To check if you are, visit your laptop鈥檚 internet settings, which is generally in the bottom right hand of the screen. Find the name of your network and then enter the password, if necessary. If you find that your home Wi-Fi signal is weak or has stopped altogether, restart your router and reconnect to Wi-Fi. If all else fails, find a local coffee shop or library that has free Wi-Fi until yours gets fixed.
3. Vanishing Documents in the Cloud- Okay, so documents don鈥檛 really vanish, but it is a terrible feeling when you save a document and then can鈥檛 find it! To avoid the frustration, create folders in your Cloud so you can organize documents. When you visit the main Cloud page, there is a button in the top left corner that says 鈥淣ew.鈥� When you click this, it gives you options to create new folders and files. Select 鈥淔older鈥� then name it after your class, such as 鈥淓D536.鈥� The next time you go to save a document for class, select 鈥淢ove To鈥� and add it to the assigned folder.
4. Login failure- Write down your usernames and passwords. It is so easy to create an account and think you will remember your login information, only to try to login in months later and not remember anything! Make a note in your phone (unless you frequently forget your phone password) or write down your accounts in a notebook. Just make sure you store this in a place that is safe but also easy for you to find. If you do forget your login information, most login pages have a 鈥淔orgot Your Password?鈥� option, which will allow you to reset your password.

U – Update Your Appearance: When it comes to updating your look, we don鈥檛 mean to run to the nearest Target. However, if you wore mainly t-shirts and hoodies throughout your studies, it may be time to gain a more professional image before your next big interview. As you enter into the job market, it is important to make sure your overall appearance is professional. Also, it is best practice to review all of your social media accounts after graduation. As you review, make sure all pictures and postings display you in a positive light. Any you find that may not, now is the perfect time to delete them!

S 鈥� Set Your Goals: Now that you have accomplished your goal of graduation, it is an excellent time to set new goals for your post-graduate career. Do you want pay off your student loans by a certain date? Do you have a dream job in mind? Do you want to own a home, or move far away? These goals should be based on what you want in life, so you can plan your next action steps to accomplish them.

E 鈥� Evaluate Your Objectives: Now that you鈥檝e set your goals. It鈥檚 time to evaluate them. Decide on how you are going to accomplish them in a timely manner. Do you want to pay off your student loans in five years? Action item: Start setting aside $500 a month for my loans. Do you want to work for a CPA firm? Action items: Update my resume, network with other CPA鈥檚, and start taking the CPA exam. Evaluate your goals in a manner so you can create easy to accomplish action items for yourself. This will in turn make your goals much more attainable, and you will find yourself achieving your goals more quickly!
